Preview for Concert | To Welcome the New Year 2022 with Music Together with NBC Symphony Orchestra!

At 11:00 p.m. on 31 December, 2021, under the baton of Zhang Yi, the renowned conductor and Music Director of the National Ballet of China, the NBC Symphony Orchestra will perform the New Year's Chime Concert in National Centre for the Performing Arts, which has been on for 11 consecutive years, to welcome the new year 2022 with music together with our audience friends!

In the upcoming New Year's Chime Concert, we have scheduled an exciting repertoire arrangement and line-up of performers.

The concert will open with the Donna Diana Overture by Austrian composer Reznicek.

The following repertoire is Nezha Conquers the Dragon King composed by composer Jin Fuzai jointly by Guzheng Artist Wang Yi and NBC Symphony Orchestra.

The next is The Comedians Suite by the Russian composer Kabalevsky.

The young Bayan artist Xu Keqing will perform jointly with NBC Symphony Orchestra for Song of Herdsmen and Libertango by composer Shang Peilei.

The last repertoire before the bell rings is Four Yunnan Folk Songs by the famous Chinese composer Yu Jingjun.

After the six repertoires above, conductor Zhang Yi and the musicians will count down together with the audience to usher in the new 2022 in the solemn and touching sound of the bell!

The first repertoire comes following is the Trumpets in Unison from the ballet La P'eri by the French composer Paul Dukas.

In view that Beijing will host the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2022, the final repertoire is a special selection: Javelin for the Atlantic Olympics, an orchestral work composed by contemporary American composer Michael Torke in 1996.
