Graduated from the Affiliated Secondary School of Beijing Dance Academy, Chen Xi joined the National Ballet of China in 2002.

After he joined the Company, Chen Xi had acted "Sancho Panza" in Don Quixote, "Professor" in The Crane Calling, "The Gentleman" in Xianglian, The Competing Lotus, and danced many repertoire, including The Red Detachment of Women, Raise the Red Lantern, The Nutcracker (Chinese Version), The New-Year Sacrifice, Hamlet, Swan Lake, Études, Soul of Sword, The Butterfly Lovers, The Yellow River, Le Corsaire, La Bayadère, The Peony Pavilion, Giselle, Napoli, L' Arlesienne, Carmen, The Fountain of Bakhchisarai, Chairman Dancers, The Rite of Spring, Confucius 2012, Beethoven's Seventh Symphony, Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.3 and The Little Mermaid.

He has toured with the Company in the USA, UK, France, Italy, Germany, Russia, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Philippines, Indonesia, Finland, Netherlands and South Korea.
